![]() We got the last high top table available outside and soaked in the vie. it was elegant, airy, and, for the moment, wasn't full! When we stepped out I had a feeling we picked the right place for brunch. It's not in the more popular parts of town, but its worth making it over there."Ī train and a walk later and we were going up an elevator in a classy upscale hotel in the lower East side. He said, "I've been a few times and you wont regret it. Purple hadn't been talked about by many things I read. I had actually done some research as to what rooftop bars were popular in New York and had come up with a list. So last Sunday we made our way down to Alphabet City where the Mr. To be fair we were there for brunch, so let's say favorite rooftop bar for lunch.Ī friend had said, when in NY be sure to stop in Mr. In a land of fantastic rooftop bars(Manhattan), I think I found a favorite. Overall, I really liked this place and loved the views especially once the city lit up. The vibe was pretty mixed, which I liked and the music was great. I have no complaints about it, it was actually really good. ![]() I also ordered a grilled cheese sandwich, which came with fries. Not sure if it was because of the time or simply because it was a different bartender, however the stronger drink was a lot better. ![]() Purple drinks while there, but my friend and I noticed the last drink we ordered around 10pm was significantly stronger than the other two. I will mention that as the night went on, staff will ask you to remove yourself from wherever you're sitting if a reserved party is coming, which was annoying, but fair. Outside however, it was pretty packed, but there were some seats available. When I got upstairs, I notice the bar inside was not open to the public yet, it was for hotel guests only. It turns out there was a line on the correct side so I'm thankful for that. I ended up accidentally trying to enter through the wrong side (the hotel side) but the young men in the front let me enter although I was suppose to walk around the building. Went to this spot around 7pm on a Saturday. So much so that 2nd orders were placed for the table.and then a grilled cheese.you know when you're consuming cocktails you want more snackage. The snackage options are equally yummy. The beef and chicken slider were tasty. We easily had about multiple round of cocktails. The other crew members had the frose and the montauk ale that was definitely liked. The vibe that evening was real chill and relaxed w/ good tunes.Īnywho, the cocktails as you guessed it are bit pricey over $15.my cocktails of choice was the strawberry collins and grapefruit tonic.yumminess. However, I'm thinking b/c we got there before the real after work rush didn't get there yet. I figured it would be a little difficult b/c it was Friday eve and rooftops are, for the most part crowded. We got there about 630ish and surprisingly was able to get a sweet table with no trouble. One Thursday night the TTC (Taco Tuesday Crew) ended up here after their day of work and my day of lounging to take in the city views w/ a few cocktails and some eats. So like a small fraction of NY'ers I have the pleasure of sleeping in and going out at night the entire summer (YES, I HAVE JOB)! And b/c of such I get to explore all the time. Service was friendly as everyone greeted us and thanked us when we left.Ī NYC summer night is always best when you're on a rooftop!!! They played pop music which set the mood as well. It was really chill and people were social distancing (mind you this was a Friday night). We got some cool pics of the city and of course their rooftop pool. ![]() The food was satisfying and worth the price! We scarfed both dishes in a matter of minutes while occasionally taking a sip and reflecting on quarantine. ![]() I'm simple when it comes to beer so the bottle would've been fine. Personally I wasn't a fan of the Heineken since it was resembled slushy and tasted like it had tequila in it. My friend really liked her drink because it was refreshing, but not too strong. I got a Heineken with grilled cheese + fries while my friend got the rooftop lemonade with chips + guac. I was a little apprehensive that the food was going to be small-portion, but it was the opposite. I was surprised that their policy was with every drink you order, you must order a dish as well. We also saw the Empire State Building so we got a panoramic view of midtown and lower Manhattan. We then sat outside overlooking lower east side to our left and freedom tower to our right. Upon entering the bar, we had our temperatures taken and IDs checked. I've been to several rooftops but I really enjoyed the view and food. My friend has been wanting to take me since summer 2019 and finally decided to hang out this past summer. I was happy to hear that the rooftop was opened. ![]()
